UCP of MONTECCHIO EMILIA REGGIO EMILIA
It was established at the beginning of the SIUCP's activity and is one of the historic Coloproctology Units of the Coloproctology Society.
It is an integral part of the Complex Surgery II Operational Unit of the General and Specialist Surgery Department of the AUSL-IRCSS of Reggio Emilia and is based at the Montecchio Emilia Hospital, which has always been home to the Pelvic Floor Centre.
The coordinator of the UCP Dr. Pasquale Talento, Colorectal Surgeon, Certificate in Coloproctology – St. Mark's Hospital London, Fellow European Board of Coloproctology – EBSQ in Coloproctology, currently holds the role of President of the Italian Unitary Society of Coloproctology (SIUCP).
He is dedicated in particular to colorectal and proctological surgery with minimally invasive techniques, he is a company representative with a highly specialized professional role in "Proctological and Pelvic Floor Surgery" and also holds the role of national teacher within the Italian School of Proctology and Pelvic Floor of the SIC (Italian Society of Surgery) and the ACOI (Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons)
The UCP of Montecchio Emilia is a reference center for the diagnosis and treatment of proctological, pelvic floor and colorectal pathologies.
Particularly known in Italy for combined surgery thanks to a collaboration with urogynecologists and rehabilitators in the pelvic floor area.
The UCP of Montecchio Emilia, with patients from all over Italy, has particular experience in the diagnosis and treatment of the following pathologies:
- Haemorrhoidal prolapse: conservative interventions such as stapler prolassectomy, THD treatments, in addition to traditional haemorrhoidectomy.
- Rectal prolapse: ventral rectopexy, Altemeier, Delorme.
- Perianal fistula: laser treatment (FiLaC), video-assisted (VAAFT), LIFT, rectal flaps, biological pastes, plugs.
- Sinus pilonidalis: minimally invasive treatment, use of laser and video-assisted (SiLaT, EPSIT).
- Faecal and urinary incontinence: sacral neuromodulation, bulking agents, sphincter plastics, rehabilitation treatments with biofeedback.
- Treatment of complex prolapse of the pelvic organs in a transversal multidisciplinary/multiprofessional team: mechanical prolapse surgery with stapler, ventral rectopexy, colposacrorectopexy, pelvic floor rehabilitation are performed.
- Chronic Inflammatory Intestinal Diseases: in collaboration with the IBD center of Reggio Emilia management and integrated treatment of perianal disease
- Treatment of anal and rectal tumors in the early stage with a transanal approach using microsurgical techniques (TransAnal Minimally Invasive Surgery (T.A.M.I.S.)
- Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in collaboration with the Sexuality and Health Center of Reggio Emilia as regards the proctological sphere of interest thanks to integrated diagnostics with high definition anoscopy
