UCP Ferrara

The UCP of Ferrara was born within the Surgery Unit at the Ferrara University Hospital (New Hospital of Cona) and is characterized by the concrete multidisciplinary approach to pelvic pathologies and by the continuous research of new minimally invasive techniques and technologies for the treatment of proctological pathologies.

The UCP Center is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of organic and functional pathologies of the colon, rectum, anus and pelvic floor and makes use of the collaboration of the U.O. of Gastroenterology, Urology, Gynecology, Radiology

Main surgical operations performed

• Proctology

1. Haemorrhoidectomy (excisional according to Milligan Morgan, with stapler, hemorrhoidopexy, laser techniques)
2. Treatment of complex fistulas (with the aid of the fistuloscope and laser when indicated), Treatment of pilonidal fistula (with fistuloscope and laser),
3. Anal sphincter repair, use of mesenchymal cells taken from autologous adipose tissue in anal fistulas and for the treatment of anal incontinence.

• Pelvic floor

1. Correction of the prolapse transanally (stapler technique, according to Delorme or Altemeier),
2. Suspension techniques (laparoscopic ventral rectopexy, POPS or lateral uterine suspension), colpohysterectomy and anterior and posterior colpoplasty, TOT.
