The UCP of Acireale was born in the Complex Operational Unit of General Surgery of the "Santa Marta and Santa Venera" Hospital.
In particular, the UCP is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of organic and functional pathologies of the colon, rectum, anus and pelvic floor.
It makes use of collaboration with other operational units.
Diagnostic investigations and surgical interventions in the coloproctological field are performed with the most modern and advanced technologies, such as:
- Colorectal neoplasms with minimally invasive approach
- Prolapse of the rectum and rectocele
- ODS (obstructed defecation syndrome)
- Fecal incontinence or stubborn constipation
- Anal fistulas
